Doel is a small village in Belgium which is under serious threat for the expansion of the harbour of Antwerp. The inhabitants (like me) have to leave their houses by the end of august. The governement has already started the demolition of the village while people are still living over there. The politicians won't listen...Is this democraty???...when the voice of the people is screaming....
A group of artists has launched two projects - [link] - to protect the village with art, to create awareness with images, the fight a war with art...ArtIvism. Some famous great Belgian painters/artists (Jan Van Imschoot, Fred Bervoets, Koen Van Den Broeck, Jan Decleir,...) have already made some amazing work on the houses of the village
I'm contributing to this group of artists: I made two large paintings showing the responsible politicians as a slut. The paintings will be installed in a window changing the house into a brawdy-house, a whorehouse (yes yes, with according lightning effects )...The name of the bar is called 'Les Putain$ du Capitalisme'. This artwork symbolizes the question whether economics stand in function of mankind or vice versa....or how mankind gets prostituted by his own system...

Opening of the exposition/project is on 24 may 2009 and will be open untill the last house has been broken down...
